Social Justice

Rooted in Equity. Nurtured by Community. Grown through Courage.

We believe that education must be a force for equity, healing, and liberation. Our social justice work is grounded in deep care for our children, our community, and the world they will inherit. This commitment is integrated into the many layers of school life, from curriculum and classroom practices to teacher development and community conversations.

Our approach is both reflective and action-oriented. We embrace the ongoing, sometimes uncomfortable work of dismantling systems of oppression and building a school community where our children are seen, valued, and celebrated.

Our Commitments

Child-Centered & Justice-Aligned

Our pedagogy honors the unique development of each child while actively working to ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging. Our curriculum includes stories, experiences, and perspectives that reflect the diversity of the world, cultivating empathy, critical thinking, and responsibility.

Teacher-Led & Community-Informed

We invest in faculty training and encourage curriculum development that is responsive to current events and rooted in anti-racist, anti-bias teaching. We engage parents and caregivers as partners in learning, with workshops and open dialogue.

Grounded in Healing & Liberation

Through practices of inquiry and courageous conversation, we strive to offer an education that is equity-focused, healing-centered, and joyful. Our social justice efforts are not add-ons, but an essential part of how we build curriculum, community and shape the culture of our school.

A Living Commitment

This work is not static. We continue to reflect, revise, and recommit ourselves to practices that foster equity, justice, and inclusion across all aspects of our school. We welcome partnership and  accountability from all members of our community.

Ongoing Work & Initiatives

  • The Social Justice Committee (SJC)
Our SJC is made up of faculty, staff, and parents who support school-wide equity initiatives. The committee hosts events, suggests resources, and collaborates with leadership on school policies and culture.

  • Professional Development
Teachers participate in ongoing anti-bias and anti-racist training and are supported in adapting curriculum to reflect our values and the needs of our students.

  • Family Learning Opportunities
We create space for parents and caregivers to grow in their understanding and advocacy.
