Enrollment Information
Our approach is holistic, developmentally appropriate, and has the ideal of bringing forth—in every child—their unique potential to grow and transform. We work to harness each child's gifts through an education that engages and develops the whole child, through understanding, connection, and action.

We learn through an education steeped in the visual arts, movement, music, oral story-telling, self-expression, and group work. All academic learning is grounded in direct experience, including a practical work- and play-based curriculum.

mixed-age groups in the preschool home, and full outdoor days in McLaren Park and at the school Farm.
Kindergarteners 4.6 - 6.9 years play and grow in two
mixed-age classes, full outdoor days in McLaren Park, and farming at the school Farm.

Lower Grades 1st - 4th
First through 4th graders begin their fostering a rich imagination through storytelling  and aim to bring education as a journey — an inspiring and creative one. Our class teachers are on a path, with their students, to develop and cultivate a life-long love of learning. We bring artistic, experiential learning that reaches the child from the inside-out and introduces subjects from the whole, to the part.

Upper Grades 5th - 8th
Fifth through 8th grade students are exploring greater self-discovery and awareness of their relationship to the world around them. Curriculum focuses on exploration, awakening and discovery and nourishes their growing curiosity, competence, and thinking while supporting the challenges and wonders they may be experiencing as individuals.
school Overview - At A Glance

Our Mission: Golden Bridges School offers an innovative, place-based education steeped in the urban outdoors of the southern neighborhoods of San Francisco. With a passionate commitment to the development of the whole human being, we strive to harmonize the physical, emotional, and intellectual life of each child.

By bringing developmentally appropriate academic rigor through hands-on experience, nourishment of the imagination, care for the earth, and a commitment to social justice, we equip our students with the tools to become free-thinking, moral human beings.

Firmly Committed to Social Justice

Privilege allows some to look the other way, to not take up the task, to be indifferent, to stop learning.

Meaningful learning requires questioning and discomfort. Transformative learning requires practice.

In our work, we strive to identify systems of oppression, acknowledge and question our participation in those systems, and take actions to create policies and practices to dismantle these systems and foster equity for the well-being of our children and the betterment of the world.
Oppression takes form in racism, militarism, capitalism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, ethnocentrism, anthropocentrism, authoritarianism, nationalism and dogmatism.

Equity takes form in the movements of anti-racism, environmentalism, feminism, pluralism, altruism.

Together we navigate this complex world and moment by moment we are challenged to dismantle oppression and strive for equity.
explore our social justice commitment

"One of our responsibilities as human people is to find ways to enter into reciprocity with the more-than-human world. We can do it through gratitude, through ceremony, through land stewardship, science, art and in everyday acts of practical reverence."
- Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass
