Growing With Purpose
Middle school is a time of awakening, of self, of identity, of possibility. Our students are guided in a socially- oriented environment that invites critical thinking, creativity, and reflection. Our teacher-led approach helps young people grow with clarity, compassion, and a strong sense of purpose as they prepare for high school and life beyond.
Middle School (Upper Grades)
Grades 6-8 at Golden Bridges School
A transformative education for emerging adolescents, rooted in purpose, perspective, and belonging.
ACADEMICS WITH DEPTH AND MEANING
Our curriculum is both rigorous and relevant. Students don’t just memorize facts—they explore big ideas, make connections across disciplines, and engage in creative, inquiry-based learning.
Grade 6: Geology, Roman and Medieval history, South American cultural geography, astronomy, business math, and physics
Grade 7: Renaissance and Reformation, Navigation and Exploration, algebra, mechanics, chemistry, geometric proofs, physiology, cultural geography of Africa, and creative writing
Grade 8: Revolutions and U.S. history, organic chemistry, Plutonic Solids, anatomy, meteorology, global economics, hydraulics and motors, short stories and personal essays
Across all grades, students write essays, read rich literature, engage in scientific observation, and build real academic skills—while developing the confidence to express their own perspectives.
LEARNING BY DOING
In middle school, students are expected to think critically, work collaboratively, and engage actively. They craft persuasive essays, solve complex equations, conduct scientific experiments, perform in dramatic plays, and take responsibility for long-term projects that require planning, reflection, and follow-through.
TECH-FREE, REAL-WORLD LEARNING
Our classrooms are intentionally tech-free, creating space for face-to-face collaboration, focused thinking, and embodied learning. Students build their own textbooks, reflect through journaling, and present their work to peers and teachers—learning by doing, not just consuming information.
TEACHERS WHO GUIDE
Each student is held by a team of teachers who know them well and care deeply. With strong relationships at the center, teachers offer mentorship, structure, and encouragement—creating an environment where students feel seen, supported, and motivated to grow.
ROOTED IN NATURE
Each week, students spend a full day immersed in farm-based learning at Hawk Creek Farm. Whether studying soil biology, compost systems, sustainable agriculture, or botany, the farm serves as a living classroom where science, stewardship, and responsibility meet. These experiences foster self-reliance and a deepened understanding of ecological systems.
LEADERSHIP AND BELONGING
As the oldest students on campus, middle schoolers take on meaningful leadership roles. They help care for younger students, support school events, and practice real-world skills like time management, group facilitation, and public speaking. Their presence shapes the tone of our community.
PREPARED FOR WHAT’S NEXT
From high-level academic content to life skills and high school application support, our middle school curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the whole adolescent. Students leave with the confidence, clarity, and compassion to thrive in high school and beyond.
