Frequently Asked Questions

What are we raising money for?
The proceeds from the auction cover vital funds for school operations, bridging the gap for our essential tuition assistance.

This is my first auction…any tips?
  • Participate in whatever way you’re comfortable – we’re excited you’re a part of our community!
  • Check ParentSquare for information about how to contribute (soliciting donations, soliciting sponsors, bringing in a bottle of wine for the raffle, becoming a sponsor, hosting a Count Me In Party, or volunteering on the day of the event).

Do I have to purchase a ticket in advance?
We strongly encourage buying tickets online before the event. Knowing the number of guests beforehand helps us plan the event.

What does my ticket purchase?
Tickets - true-cost ticket ($135) or a general admission ticket ($50) - include dinner, drinks, photo booth, and live music. We also have a pay-what-you-can option. The ticket price doesn’t quite cover the expenses involved in putting on the event, so we rely on sponsors to cover costs such as venue rental, food, band, and decor. Click here to view sponsorship levels.

Do I need to spend a lot of money at the auction?
If you can, yes! But do you have to, no! This is a fundraiser and a school celebration. We have items available at every price point, but if you’re not comfortable bidding, don’t worry. Just come for the amazing food, drinks, and community. We’ll have signature cocktails, an amazing band, and some surprises!

What fundraising opportunities happen at the event?
  • Online Auction: Prior to our Auction Event, we’ll begin a week-long online auction, where you can support our school by bidding on donated items – all from the comfort of your home! Please note that most gift cards, services, and retail items will be available at our online auction only. Yes, you can get a great deal on restaurants, camps and cultural excursions! But also, don’t hesitate to pay a little extra above the value of an item, especially if it’s something you’d purchase anyway – all the money we raise goes to support Golden Bridges School.
  • Silent Auction: At the event, handmade items and services offered by our community will be available for anonymous bidding.
  • Count Me In Parties: Use your bidder number to sign up to attend themed parties hosted by GBS families. Learn to make miso, watch the Women’s World Cup, and so much more!
  • Raffle: Enter to win one of three prizes: the wine chest, a trip to Tahoe, or the Mystery Box (over $1500 of donated goods!). Raffle tickets are $25 each (or 5 for $100).
  • Live Auction: Raise your paddle for a selection of items to be auctioned live. Our emcee, Noah Lang, will keep the bidding lively. Class projects, a trip, and more will be available for bidding during the Live Auction.
  • Fund-A-Need: During the event, you can also raise your paddle to make a 100% deductible donation for Fund-A-Need. It’s a direct appeal for donations to support financial aid at Golden Bridges School. Our school is the most economically diverse independent school in the Bay Area, and Fund-A-Need continues to make that possible. The auctioneers will ask for pledges at every level, starting high and working their way down. We encourage you to contribute at the level that’s right for you.

We can’t wait to see you there!

How can I help?

1. Solicit Donations from your favorite local businesses OR offer an item yourself.
Reach out to local businesses to request donations for our auction.  If you'd like help or require documentation, reach out to auction@goldenbridgesschool.org
Our silent auction includes handmade community items so if you are a crafter and would like to offer an item, let us know.

2. Sponsor the event.
Every dollar we receive in advance of the event helps every dollar we raise at the event go directly to the school.  Sponsors receive special recognition, event tickets, raffle tickets, and special gifts.  Sponsorships range from $250 - $10,000.  Contact Andrea if you are interested in sponsoring the event.

3. Bring a bottle of wine for the wine raffle prize.
If every family donates one bottle, we’ll have an amazing collection. Make it anything you’d love to win (white, red, sparkling, or spirits).

4. Volunteer to support setup (either Friday afternoon or Saturday) or cleanup (Saturday night and Sunday morning).  Contact ellana@goldenbridgesschool.org if you can help.
