Explore the mountain that what biologist E.O Wilson described as one of the worlds rare biodiversity hot spots. Reina who is on the Board of Directors of San Bruno Mountain Watch will guide you on a 2 mile hidden local trail up a rigorous climb to the ridge of the mountain for a 360 degree view of San Francisco, Mount Diablo, and the south Bay. We can then have a short picnic/snack break at the peak with the majestic view all around. Then we stroll down zig-zagging oak forests to witness the native flora and perhaps catch a spotting of a coyote, owl, rabbits, butterflies and more. On the hike Reina will describe the history of the mountain, including the native tribes that inhabited it, how it was almost signed away to be completely flattened and point out endemic plants and butterflies that still call it home.
